Summer Reading for incoming 6th graders (2006-2007 school year):

A Week in the Woods by Andrew Clements

Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliette

I have chosen these two terrific books for your summer reading. As you read each book, I'd like you to keep a journal of important facts and anything else you'd like to remember for each chapter. The journal should be a regular size copybook…no theme, no spiral notebooks, and no little tablets. You will be taking the journal with you to the Computer Lab to take the Reading Counts tests in September. I will collect your journal after the tests are completed. This journal is important, because it will be of great help to you when testing; it will be one of your first Reading grades of the trimester, also.
On the back of this sheet is a book review of each of the summer reading books. I hope the reviews inspire you to enjoy your summer reading.
